24505 GEAR WHEEL Z24

24505 GEAR WHEEL Z24

Hi there

First post, so sorry if this isn't in the right place.  This part puzzles me - is it a genuine new part or a renumbering of 3648b Technic Gear 24 Tooth [New Style with Single Axle Hole]?

Opinion seems divided on the subject - it's a whole new (superseding) part on Rebrickable and a separate entity on BrickSet but BrickLink and BrickOwl have rolled the new one into the old one as an alternate part number.

However, looking at the official word from Lego, they do have different Lego part numbers - a 3648b in DBG from 2008 is 4514558 and a 24505 in DBG from 2015 is 6133119 so I guess it counts as a separate part.

All in all, a rather convoluted way of saying, can we get 24505 created please?

Brickset lists it as appearing since 2007, so it seems like a renumbering to me.

If it's a simple renumbering then does a whole new part need to be "created" for 24505, even if it is a carbon copy of 3648b?
