Only real-world elements in the library?

Only real-world elements in the library?
#1
Hello,

Are only Lego elements that actually exist allowed in the LDraw library?
I’m asking because some of the Nexo Knights shields (22385) are listed in the library as official elements, even though they don’t exist in real life. These shields were only available in the app.

Best regards,
Manfred

In almost all cases, yes. I think we discussed allowing Nexo shields to have a "complete set"

light.dat doesn't represent a real-world part either, but it is a special case.

Curious about that. Could you post some examples?

I am also heavily unware of how those blindbags (or the app) worked. Anyone who could explain what is off with the Library ones?

Hi Chris,

Everything is fine with the pieces in the library. When the Nexo Knights sets were still current, there was an app. I never had the app, and neither did my son, who originally owned the sets. I only know the following.
The shields that came with the sets or in separate packs could be scanned, and there were additional options in the app.
In addition, there were other shields in the app that could be unlocked somehow.
The library contains exactly those shields that existed only in the app and not in real life. Examples include: 22385p008 - 012 / 014 / 017 and others.
I only noticed this because I’m running a comparison in my database between the parts in the LDraw library and BrickLink based on the appendix.
Some time ago, parts in the library were marked as obsolete because they had no real-world counterparts.
Hence my question. I don’t see any need for action.

Best regards,
Manfred
