This is a modernized version of the LL897 Mobile Rocket Launcher set, using only parts currently (as of Summer, 2026) available from LEGO Pick-a-Brick online. The main design principle was to retain (or even improve) the durability and playability of the original, using similar, simple building techniques. An additional design principle was to use general-purpose parts, allowing for many alternative builds and re-use in Space-themed builds, following the structure and the building sequence of the original as closely as practical.
The main differences with the original are the following:
- Instead of red and white, golden and teal minifigures are used.
- Some originally gray parts (fenders, spare oxygen tank, etc.) are white.
- The originally red wheel hubs are also white.
- The walkie-talkie is light gray, with an additional face plate.
- Instead of two vertical tail fins, three hangers are used, due to part availability but also to improve on the most fragile part of the original.
- The erector mechanism has been completely changed, due to part availability.
