Question about option lines

Question about option lines
#1
Hello,

For example, part 15068 consists of a lower section 15068s1. The upper section consists of part of a cylinder 1-8cyli.
Both parts contain the optional lines. For each part with a pattern, the optional lines for the upper section must be added.
My suggestion would be to use a primitive 1-8cyli without optional lines and move the optional lines to the lower part.
This would mean that they would not have to be added to every part with a pattern.
I compared several parts and the optional lines were almost always the same, with most deviations due to rounding (e.g. 4 <-> 3.9999).
The colour of the pattern also has no effect, as the colour was always 24.

My question is, what are the arguments against my suggestion?

Regards

Manfred

When parts are subfiled for patterning, the author can choose to put the conditional lines covering the patterned surfaces either in the main file or in the subfile. Both are acceptable. The latter is more commonplace for newer parts and parts having a custom 3D surface patterned.

In the case of 15068, the conditional lines have been put in the main file, which means that each of the currently 27 patterned parts need to contain those conditional lines.

Conditional lines always have color 24.
