Updates of the Bricklink and Rebrickable references

Updates of the Bricklink and Rebrickable references
#1
Hello,

How often are the references to Bricklink and Rebrickable updated for the parts?
Is this update only carried out for parts on the Parts Tracker or also for official parts?

I'm asking because I've noticed that the reference to Bricklink for the official parts 2431 is sometimes incorrect.
For example, the reference for 2431p01 is Bricklink 2431pb243, but should be Bricklink 2431pb0243. This is the case for all parts that start with pb and have a number.
The reference for the official part 98138pz2 is also incorrect. Bricklink 98138pb258 would be correct here, instead of Bricklink 98138pb072.

The references at Rebrickable are correct.

Greetings
Manfred

Official parts: manual, so mostly never
Unofficial parts: upon submit, 1 day/week/month after submit, just prior to release, and manual.

Everything is through the RB api. So if RB is wrong about the BL or other numbers then the keywords will be wrong as well. This is a service I implemented as a convenience to the users so I'm not really that concerned if things are wrong every so often.

Thanks for the quick reply.
Would you carry out the mentioned corectures?
I can also carry out the corrections and provide you with the files, e.g. as a zip file.

Given the mess Bricklink has caused in the recent months with renaming decade old parts (and just announced plans to further "innovate"), I wouldn't take to much effort here Rolleyes

If the Rebrickable link is correct, everything's fine.

Please do not submit any part fixes just to correct these keyword. It likely won't work due to how the PT handles these things and it unnecessary. I'll correct via script at some point.

Hi Chris,
it doesn't do much work for me as I have an automatism here. Smile
I do a manually guided synchronization with Bricklink. It's easier for me to use Bricklink as I can download the necessary data as a CSV file. With Rebrickable, I would have to deal with the API first.  Sad
I have a database in which I manage my Lego parts. For printed parts, it is therefore very helpful for me to have the reference to Bricklink, as it is easier than a visual comparison.
Now to your comment about referencing Rebrickable. This is partly wrong, for example the following minifigure head:

3626cp8d
Bricklink reference 3626pb1043
Rebrickable reference 3626cpr1297

Rebrickable gives the references 3626cpr1297 and 3626cpr1326 for this head.
3626cpr1297 then leads to Bricklink 3626pb1043, this is a header with one-sided printing.
3626cpr1326 then leads to Bricklink 3626pb1029, which is a header with double-sided printing.

The header 3626cp8d has double-sided printing, so both references are incorrect here. Another note: the head in LDraw is missing a freckle on the right side. There are three, but according to the pictures there should be four. In addition, the color of the freckles should be light nougat.

I don't know if these references are relevant for other people, then I could register with rebrickable and report any discrepancies found. But then the referencing in LDraw should also be updated at certain intervals.

Greetings

Hello Orion,
no problem. I had done it in the past, but now it is automatic. I am very pleased about that.  Wink
The only question is how much interest there is in this information. I could, if I find incorrect Bricklink references, send them to you once a month at most. I would limit myself to the officially released parts, as the parts on the Parts Tracker are automatically matched, as you have already written.
I could also provide you with a ZIP file with the corrected files.
If you make a correction to the reference, would these files be included in the ZIP archive of the updated files with the next update?

Greetings

Manfred
