I assume it will be the same Cera Pro font for the Roman glyphs, and it looks like the Kanji characters are Adobe's Source Han Sans JP Regular (perhaps graphically condensed).

Yes Roman glyphs are using Cera Pro Regular font (https://www.typemates.com/fonts/cera-pro)

I'm thinking I'll finally get the 21060 tiles worked up soon. Meanwhile, a reminder that the 21058 tiles patiently await your votes on the PT.  Wink

(Maybe by then we'll have a glimpse at the Notre Dame set and its tiles…)

The choice of Notre Dame is annoying given many other, better choices (Taipei 101, Patronas Towers, or anything from South America). Another, minor nit is that choosing it goes against stated LEGO policy.

My understanding is that it's going to coincide with the grand re-opening of the cathedral, so that at least makes sense. (That the Architecture sets tend to be tied to some kind of cross-promotion goes right back to the theme's founding, even if it was originally more for purely architectural subjects than tourist attractions. But it's true, I would like to see more Robie Houses and Imperial Hotels—I wouldn't even mind a large-scale re-issue of the Space Needle.)

It's also my sense that, to the extent that there is a stated LEGO policy on religious subjects, the emphasis that's been placed on it has come far more from the fandom than from the company itself. I'm not even sure whether it's still written among their many current policies—it's certainly not among the top Google hits, anyway. But even if it is, it's probably more of a guideline for profitability than an ethical stance, in the company's view at least.

It's a bit similar to the never-ending debate over whether the word "LEGO" is singular or plural, when in fact the point everyone misses is that it's an adjective and not a noun. Tongue

But yes, I know, this is hardly the forum for matters such as these. Angel

I do not defend it because I'm French Big Grin but I can understand that they do an exception for Architecture sets where the most interesting is not the religious aspect but the architecture of the building itself. Also this would not be the first time as they already issued Taj Mahal sets.

Also to be noted that they already expose a big replica of Notre Dame within Paris Lego Store since its opening in 2016:
It can be seen from 02:00 in the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xub4KRe13gQ

And looking for the topic I found this blog post from 2009 mentioning the few official sets with religious content up to that year: https://godbricks.blogspot.com/2009/05/o...gious.html

I guess the guidelines for BDP, the Studio Gallery and Ideas can be seen as TLG’s official stance.
(Though “do as I say, not as I do” is “strong in this one.” Wink )

The guidelines for both BDP and the Studio Gallery prohibit religious matters… but not architecture.
BrickLink gives the example of the Taj Mahal: saying this is not a religious building but its architecture has been inspired by religious buildings of the time (and place).  (Apparently, a tomb isn’t religious… it’s like a fancy trash can?)
If you want to make a church or temple for BDP or the Gallery, it’s okay if your subject is architecture.  If your subject is a religious ceremony: marriage, mass, sacrifice (though this one would fall under violence first), etc., or if you simply show an altar, you’re out.
Also, like the ban on contemporary military (from the 19th century or so), it can be superseded by the theme, like when it’s a scene in a movie (hence why Indiana Jones’ Nazis are okay).  (Well, IP is forbidden in BDP and you end up as Display Only on the Gallery but you can still show your model.)

(BTW, I’m sure the author of the video has signed agreements from the store and everybody in there to use their image….)

I'm disappointed because there are better choices. Taipei 101 and Petronas Towers come to mind. Even the Sphinx. I really wish they'd try to get the FLW license back.

I just certified the Pyramids tile.

Would you mind redoing all the other tiles with the correct font (Swiss BT Bold or Cera Pro, as appropriate)?

It's just the Taj Mahal that needs doing, isn't it? Or at least, the only one that isn't visually close?

Meanwhile, we have images coming in from 21061. The tile will be the same as everything else recent, but there is a new circular window print as well…

Yes, but the pedant in me would like to see all the other tiles that don't use Swiss BT Bold fixed.

Tiles for 21060 are now on PT.

Next up will be Taj Mahal and probably the Notre Dame tile, then if I can come up with a streamlined workflow I'll look back over the older ones for font correctness.
Updated Taj Mahal tile is now on PT. Notre Dame next.
Notre-Dame de Paris is now on PT.

Now the race is on to build the set for OMR. Big Grin
