I actually agree with Steffen's 2nd point here. I've always thought it would increase the read-ability of the DAT/Head to have better formatted History lines. To me, I see to reason why any software would use these lines, and it seems like, as he says, they are meant to be human-readable to provide information about who did what to the file.
