Sorry for my late reply Jetro, my subscriptions to posts seem a bit broken here and there so I don't see new replies...
But here is how:

The curled string part in the PLI is a submodel.
For the string part in the instructions I made some variations depending on the stage the building is in.
Then I substitute the string part in the model by the part I use for the PLI using !LPUB PLI BEGIN SUB.
I'll try to post an example you may download and use.
