Aligning Categories to user expectations

For me it is simpler but that might not be true for everyone. Actually, what I'd like to see in most programs is the ability to have user defined buckets based on rules or simply selection (something like smart playlists and regular playlists in iTunes). MLCad has this for the most part but Bricksmith does not (aside from the favorites list).

It's really a moot point since the number 1 LDraw program (MLCad) doesn't support CATEGORY, isn't being actively developed, and isn't open source.
