Let's use this thread to talk about how they should be numbered.

The readable number on the main parts is 53404 and 53407, but the complete assemblies are 53403 and 53406.
That's why they seem to have different numbers on some sites.

It is also clear that these assys and sub-parts have been updated over time. There are minor design changes made on the parts.

Would it be correct to use a suffix on the assy numbers?

My suggestion is to use all the a-variants in a 53403a-file, and the b-variants in 53403b-file.
We usually use the -c0X suffix to make versions of different content, but I think we could use a- and b- here instead.
The first shortcut will be the complete point + a yellow lever.

Or are there even more variants we need to consider?

As far as I can say, that there is an early version of the PF switch track assembly using

a) the switch blade is the 9V one - just without the metal rail on top
b) the main part uses a straighter geometry for the guard/check rail

and a later version with a new switch blade mould with the same design ID as the 9V version has and a different geometry for the main part, which uses the same 53404/53407 ID.

So I'm completely fine with your suggestion for the numbering.

As TLG changed some details for the rails in 2026 I assume, that there could another version for the switches in the future, but for now it's fine.
