Since I'm implementing a warning for this, lets resurrect this thread.
The current spec say Parts 3 and Prims 5. Willy and Philo have me pretty much convinced that as long as the part looks fine at normal zoom level, 0.001 LDU microgaps aren't really an issue. That said, I think bumping the recommendation to Part 4/Prim 5 is fine.
Note: this will always be a warning and exceptions will be allowed and will be handled on a case by case basis. I stand by my "no hold votes" comment above.
