Beside a general tolerance of 1 LDU (or about), there’s practictally no room for collision boxes for a hollow stud because the boxes need to be small enough to allow both for a (possibly rotated) polygonal bar inside and a (possibly rotated) polygonal anti-stud outside.
Yeah I made a custom part for studio to try it, and if you extend the stud by the correct amount and the connector it visually collides but doesn't set off a collision warning.
