Is there any demand for a stud4s with no edge lines?

I'm under the impression that no primitive should be created without a part that needs it. The exact line between subpart and primitive is muddy. I'd say subpart if it is of limited reuse in other parts; primitive if it can be reused in many contexts. Reuse in existing parts should not be counted.
