Thanks Magnus, that is correct. It is based on the standard nomenclature for real-life vehicle tyres.
Jude you don't need to own the physical parts - the dimensions can be determined from the LDraw file (using something like the attached "Ruler" file, which has both LDu and mm scales).
The (A x B) dimensions are NOT standardised and although sometimes moulded onto the parts are not used consistently - hence my desire to move to this (industry-like) standard.
