This gets to my preference: I'd rather see the Parts Library remain as it is but see a special library of parts with the details there made available for special occassions only. Advanced builders may not be able to make such a baseplate themself, but they could download it if they wanted.
Having the underside details is simply too much computation for too little gain IMO.
