Yes, using primitives allow some software to recalculate the design and replace the primitive with a smoother curve.
This is only possible if there is a primitive to replace.

... But it's wise to use primitives only if you are able to match them to other primitives (eg. Chrd+ndis), not triangles/quads. Otherwise substituted primitives would partially overlap simple geometry.
