Per Microsoft's own guidelines, anything that a program can edit should be placed in a directory in the User path. This is why user options are stored in the App Data directory. I just lump everything into C:\Users\<User Name>\Lego and that seems to work fine for me. This is also the reason I like zip files instead of installers.
