I was also running into problems knowing when the glass was properly inserted into frames. I was assuming they both should have the same origin, but that seems a bit off.

Yes it is off
Attached your model where I adjusted position of glasses (and made them transparent!), and corrected position of many parts that were slightly off or floating in the air... otherwise looks good so far!
