The trouble is that no matter what I call it I can't find it with LDcad to even include it in a file. 
I have also tried (and double checked) both .dat and .ldr as endings (both on the file and in the LPub3D command) in order to get it to turn up in the PLI as a substitute part, but it simply won't.
Probably missing something terribly obvious again...
