Revision 2 to MPD specification adds ability to embed images - Orion Pobursky - 2020-05-26 The TEXMAP meta command allows LDraw files to map images onto the surfaces of a part or model. This image, while part of the part or model definition, could not be included inside an MPD file since it is a binary file. The LSB has ratified revision 2 to the MPD specification. This adds the !DATA meta command to allow the inclusion of binary files in the body of an MPD. Roland Melkert, author of LDCad, has said that support for this new meta command will be included with the forthcoming LDCad version 1.7. Other currently maintained LDraw tools should follow. https://www.ldraw.org/article/47.html RE: Revision 2 to MPD specification adds ability to embed images - Lasse Deleuran - 2020-05-29 I am glad that a working example is included in the spec. This is great for people who will implement it. So thanks to all of you for including that. This is a rendering of the sample file from the standards page. Would it make sense to have a picture of the sample file on the standards page? That way people can use it to verify that their own implementation is correct. Here is the same file rendered by my LDView development code: RE: Revision 2 to MPD specification adds ability to embed images - Gerald Lasser - 2020-05-31 (2020-05-31, 8:52)Travis Cobbs Wrote: Roland is responsible for the sample file, and I agree that it is very useful. The sample file should use bricks in another colour than red, as red is used also to indicate the orientation in e.g. LDView when BFC is on. |
