Model Team - Tim Singer - 2017-11-14

I've been working on building some of the 80s and 90s Model Team sets in MLCad and noticed they are not in the repository here.  I'm planning to post more, including alternate models, as I make them OMR compliant, but I suppose I'll wait for this one to be reviewed first so I know if there's anything I need to fix.

Well, better late then never I suppose... I took a look at your file and it looks perfect to me. I have added it to the OMR.

Here are the A and B model of Model Team set 5540. The A-Model doesn't have the stickers yet, B-model doesn't use the stickers.

They're created with MLCad and contain also metacommands for LPub 3D.
They should be OMR compliant, please let me know if they're not.

Believe it or not I don't remember this!

According to the OMR Spec:

the file name should be something like:

5540 - Formula I Racer - A Model.mpd
5540 - Formula I Racer - B Model.mpd

Did you run it through MPDCenter or tried https://brickhub.org/ which also gives you some clues?

Placement of the front and rear stickers isn't indicated in the instructions, but can be determined from box artwork photos.

I'm doing the stickers now for this set. I had to approximate the sizes from the BL image along with clues from the instructions, but most of them turned out slightly too large. (This seems true to life, actually; in photos I've seen of the real model, some stickers do seem to be cut a bit too big to fit.) So I just need to revise the dimensions.

If anyone does know the real measurements, of course, that would be handy!

An alternate version including stickers.

There are also two versions of the flexible hoses inlined. Those with filenames ending in "-o" can be used when the engine cowl is removed, giving the hoses a more natural curvature when they are not compressed by the cowl. Just select all the hoses and toggle the MLCad HIDE metas to switch versions.

Thanks for creating B-model!!
I've noticed the A-model got OMR compliant by latest parts update (the formed sticker became official) and updated it.

very small nitpicking to the Set 5533:
to fit the technic bush onto the Technic Wheel 2998, you have to fit the "toothed" side at 45° (the axle has to be rotated).
That is the second way to get these wheels driven, works like putting these "teeth" of the bush onto a 2xX technic plate.
But that is a very small error, like two unrotated gears with colliding teeth. (how is that handled here and in the OMR?)

But that's just me; there is no rule for the OMR that models be error-free or built to any strict technical standard.

Thanks for the tip about 2998 wheel, I didn't notice that. Both model updated (I rotated wheels). For teeth alignement, I did it for my older models but for some with universal joint or gear boxes it was crazy. My rules now is no rotation for gear. I model with LDCad and render with Studio. Before rendering, I use the collision tool of Studio. Most angle calculation are made with GeoGebra.
