Re:Can anyone help on LPub operation ? - Andrewlai - 2015-03-16

Dear All,

I used LPub 4.0.0.11 to list out parts but it was separated into 2 pages.

First page just shows 5 round studs and second page shows normal parts but missing round stud number count.

May I know how to manage all the information in 1 single page ?

Thanks for help.
Andrew

Try to right click in the margin of 1st page, then "Treat as Part". Should work...

Hello Andrew,

The parts that you add with the Plate Generator are assembled within MLCAD using LDRAW Primitives likes "stud.dat" and quads etc. They are not added as a "part" itself. The primitives themselves are not listed in the part-list as they are within the MLCAD SKIP BEGIN/END bracket.

For models you want to publish I would refrain from using such hand-made parts.

If you need to use them however do the following:
- Create your plate with the Plate Generator
- Save it e.g. "Custom_2x6x2_Plate.dat" in your UNOFFICIAL parts directory
- within LPUB add the following code before the MLCAD SKIP_BEGIN statement:
0 !LPUB PLI BEGIN SUB Custom_2x6x2_Plate.dat
- Still in LPUB add after the MLCAD SKIP_END statement:
0 !LPUB PLI END

This will instruct LPUB to use a different part in the partlist for the items between PLI BEGIN/END

Hi Andrew,

You found it already, the "Plate Generator" is the icon that you highlighted in your post and you used to add the other two parts.

I would really stick to official parts and only build my own shortcuts for parts like motors with cables or similar as parts created with this function might not exist.

Hi Gerald,

I am a bit puzzle of the procedure since I am not professional.
I simple upload a file of blocks created by plate generator by MLCAD.
Can u guide me to LPUB with part list ? Or is there any other software can do the same purpose ?

many thanks
Andrew

Why do you use plate generator for standard parts?
The 2 x 4 Plate is part no 3020.dat, the 2 x 10 plate is 3832.dat and can be found in the parts tree of MLCAD.
Just use those and they will show up in LPUB without tedious workarounds.

Can u advise me if I can find out all attached parts(see attached file) in ML Cad library or download somewhere else ?

Hello Andrew,

apart from the 1x1 round plate you already requested above, these are all standard plates,
which are available from the official library.

I think you have just taken the wrong path from the beginning. It is not necessary to generate such plates
using the plate generator feature. That one is only intended for cases where the official parts are not sufficient.

You should be able to simply use the official existing parts.

If MLCad does not show you these, this might have different reasons, among them
- a broken parts library installation
- a broken parts.lst file

To make sure that these problems are not present for you, please re-download the complete parts library from
http://www.ldraw.org/downloads-2/downloads.html by clicking on "complete.zip". Expand that file to your ldraw directory.
It will supply you with all officially released parts.
After that, update your parts.lst file to properly contain a list of all parts available:
- open a command prompt window by executing the command
cmd.exe
- change into the folder of your ldraw installation, by typing
cd /d C:\LDRAW
- run the program "mklist", which updates the file parts.lst for you by issuing the command
mklist
- when prompted by which criterion to sort your files, hit "d" for description
- restart MLCad.

You should now be able to use MLCad's parts tree to the left to use the plates you need.
You can colorize them as needed by using MLCad's color buttons.
