Problems with loading LDR file from LDD - Piotr - 2013-12-28 Hi, This is a rookie question :-) I have created a simple model in LDD 4.3.8. The model base on EV3 set (31313). Because I don't like the format of building instructions from LDD, I wanted to try LDView and LPub. So I have done an export from LDD to LDR file. I have installed LDraw_AIOI_2013-01_setup_32bit_v1.exe , plus the latest complete.zip and ldrawunf.zip . I run LDMakeList.exe as well. When I try to open exported LDR (attached to this thread) in LdView, I get below errors: Quote:Error loading submodel x933c01.dat. Is there a way how can I fix it quickly and easily? :-) Best regards Re: Problems with loading LDR file from LDD - Michael Heidemann - 2013-12-28 both files seems to be not official, at least with that numbers. Re: Problems with loading LDR file from LDD - Piotr - 2013-12-28 Well, the LDR file was done by LDD (File / Export Model). So you bet on LDD bug? I'm attaching LXF (just drop .txt extension) file, to this post. Regards Re: Problems with loading LDR file from LDD - Magnus Forsberg - 2013-12-28 Do you have the latest version of ldraw.xml? Download from here: http://gallaghersart.com/page/new_ldd_parts_and_the_ldraw.xml I dont know if Mike Gallagher have added the new EV3 parts to the translation list yet. x933c01.dat is renumbered to just 933c01.dat. Mindstorm NXT RJ12 Plug with cable end 59158.dat is a new alias number. A search for it in LDD gives a small EV3 engine. We call it 99455.dat Re: Problems with loading LDR file from LDD - Piotr - 2013-12-28 Thank you, I didn't know about the ldraw.xml. However with this file there are no errors while loading exported LDR (after closing LDD, replacing ldraw.xml, opening LDD and exporting) , but EV3 bricks (engines, cpu) are not displayed. It seems like Studio is using the part numbers to mean something different, and their orientations are not inline with neither LDD nor LDraw. How are we expected to stay on top of this? I have found the following: 59158 is the Electric Mindstorms EV3 Medium Motor Axle Hub, and requires the following recoloring, reorientation and translation to work with LDraw: 1 16 0 0 0 0 0 -1 0 1 0 1 0 0 99543.dat See: https://brickhub.org/p/59158.dat 74043 is the Electric Mindstorms EV3 Medium Motor Body Assembly: 1 15 70 -40 30 0 0 -1 0 1 0 1 0 0 99535c01.dat See: https://brickhub.org/p/74043.dat 74042 is the Electric Mindstorms EV3 Large Motor Case: 1 15 180 0 30 0 0 1 0 1 0 -1 0 0 99550c01.dat See: https://brickhub.org/p/74042.dat RE: Problems with loading LDR file from LDD - Magnus Forsberg - 2020-06-10 That link leads to a very old and obsolete xml-file. Please go here for an always up to date file https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/137193-more-up-to-date-ldrawxml-lddldraw-conversion-file/ RE: Problems with loading LDR file from LDD - Lasse Deleuran - 2020-06-10 (2020-06-10, 15:09)Magnus Forsberg Wrote: That link leads to a very old and obsolete xml-file.Thanks. That translation file seems to match what I see people are exporting from Studio. But it still begs the question. Studio 2.0 seemingly exports LDD part ID's to LDraw, so we either need aliases for these parts, or Studio should be using the LDraw part numbers when exporting to LDraw. The current solution seems to always have us play catch-up. RE: Problems with loading LDR file from LDD - Sylvain Sauvage - 2020-06-25 (2020-06-10, 15:20)Lasse Deleuran Wrote: Thanks. That translation file seems to match what I see people are exporting from Studio. When Studio was launched in 2016(?), it came with the Official LDraw Library and the Unofficial parts of that time and parts directly converted from LDD (like digital-bricks.de but I think theirs are slightly different). Since then, they’ve added new parts as people asked for them or as they were introduced in Unofficial. So they took them in Official when they hadn’t found the match between BL and LDraw before or from Unofficial or from digital-bricks.de, and I’m not sure they have a preference order. So far, I don’t think they’ve ever updated parts (e.g. to use an Official part instead of a d-b.de one). I never found how they converted from LXF (there’s an ldraw.xml file but I tried correcting a few conversions and it didn’t work). TL;DR: Studio’s a bit of a mess.
