I noticed this (free, at least at the moment) photo-based 3D scanner from Autodesk:

I wonder if it's accurate enough to use for part creation, and, if so, if there's any way to get from its file format into LDraw format.

I'll have a closer look on this! On the main page, they say the mesh can be exorted to .obj, so there should be no problem to convert to LDraw.

Tried today... complete failure so far!
And if only there was a WRITTEN manual instead of those pesky videos
