Unfortunately, I cannot help you with the SR3D failure, since I don't have it and never used it.

This should be valid. I use the trick myself to show a step from multiple angles, such as in step 25 and 26 here: https://brickhub.org/i/r.php?model=124&color=0&step=24

OK, I see. Not sure if this works in LPub3D though. I believe it skips an empty step. Not sure though.
