- Must make the spec part of the standard to have the METAs in the dat file or
- We must make the spec use data in the .dat file (METAs) to get the data into the library or
- We must use an external table of data to get the data into the library.

Possibly! I think the discussion started as Mario describing his work-to-date (and excellent documentation of such work :-) and then I sort of hijacked it in the hope of putting together a "general purpose" connection system that could be used by multiple programs.
