btw,
the little tractor is hovering inside the yellow container.

Would it help if we had a repository somewhere of flexible rope components? i.e. pre-made knots, reels, etc.? I have a couple of template snippets that I (intend to) re-use, but my ropes are also a little non-compliant because I use old LSynth constraints instead of the "official" LDCad rope/string donors.

Yes, it will be very useful.
I'm now on training of LDCad flexible items template (from easier 73590 hose etc.)

Attached is my first attempt, at an OMR-ized LDraw model. According to MPD center, everything should be OK, but I am not sure about the file naming for b-models?`
It would be great if someone could review the file and let me know if it is ok. If so, I will make the remaining back of the box models for this set. Thanks!

The build itself is very nice.
What software do you use for building?
The transformation matrices should be rounded to 0, 1 or -1 if the part is placed horizontally or vertically (at least each component cannot be >1 or <-1 by any rotation).

1 14 -10.0138 -26.2948 -0.0003 -1.000008 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 -1.000008 3020.dat
will be
1 14 -10 -26 0 -1 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 -1 3020.dat

I'm looking forward to see more alternative builds for this and other sets!!

Thanks for the quick reply, Takeshi!
That is interesting, I used Studio as I switched to that from MLCad a few years ago. I find it the most easy to use. Is it a problem that the values aren't rounded?

It would also be great to get a confirmation concerning the naming of the "B" models. I have started to name them alphabetically (A, B, C...), as I have noticed that seems to be how it is done on sites like backoftheboxbuilds.com , and Eurobricks. I am not sure if that is in line with the LDraw naming, though?

I posted the 6645 street sweeper model below. :-) Will these be added to the OMR model list at some point, is there something I need to do from my side?

I'm not sure if there's a standard one way or the other, but we typically think of A, B, C etc. as being the different models for which instructions are given, not so much the ideas on the back of the box. Though there is admittedly some gray area, like set 8448 which gives only the beginning steps for several of its alternate builds.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply!

Ok, then for now I would propose that the lettering covers the instructions first and then continues with the lid and back of the box. So if there is a second model in the instructions, it would be "B", and then I would continue with "C" for the models on lid and the back.
I hope that is ok? We can always change it later if there is an official naming pattern.

As far as the name for OMR purposes, the only thing to mention is that there should be a hyphen between the set name and the sub-model, like this:
6645 - Street Sweeper - B model

MPDCenter doesn't catch this, probably because it doesn't have a database of valid set names.

As for the A, B, C pattern, I think your scheme is perfectly logical, and OMR guidelines leave the sub-model name up to the author's discretion. (It does suggest that the name be descriptive of the model, but since these are all just different street sweepers…)

So the only other question, really, is whether the OMR desires to have back-of-the-box builds included, but there's certainly no harm in posting them and this is the forum to do it!  Smile

Thanks! I am getting the hang of the MPD Center and OMR-ization now.  Smile I uploaded the files according to the naming you suggested. There is new "D Model" below. I replaced "street sweeper" with "bulldozer" for the D model, but somehow it didn't feel right. I left the original set name for now.
