Technic vs. Constraction

Technic vs. Constraction
#1
I'd like to know the dividing line between Technic and Constraction. My general understanding is Bionicle, Hero Factory, etc. specific parts are Constraction and Technic otherwise. I realize that there will prolly be overlap so I think we should default to Technic.

I apologize if this has already been hashed out but I might have missed the conversation. Just point me to the relevant forum thread. Other

That's the generally accepted dividing line amongst various online sources. Slizers/Throwbots, Robo Riders and the first year of Bionicle were released under the Technic label, and later themes continued to use Technic-based parts and functions. But the various databases consider all of these, and especially Bionicle, to be wholly separate themes from the outset.

The tricky part is finding constraction-specific parts that later found a use in mainline Technic. It might make the most sense to distinguish between armor/shell/weaponry parts as constraction, and other connector parts (other than CCBS armatures) as Technic.

Fuzzy stuff indeed.
- No use for most of them
- Very occasional use:
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=41672 is a typical constraction part but did make it to 8421 mobile crane

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=32165 and https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=32166 made it to the 8466 crane truck.

- At the other end of the spectrum, the tooth

was born as a Bionicle part, but is now completely integrated in Technic range.

Actually born as an eye, not a tooth (and still officially called "Bionicle Eye" in TLG usage).

Here's another that seems to have crossed over pretty often:

I think parts should be categorised as constractions unless it can't be categorised as clearly technic. Something like most of the lower arm/leg parts, as well as weapons, masks/helmets and feet would be constractions this way, meanwhile most of socket parts, some torsos probably, and likely some other parts would be technic. Only thing I am unsure about are CCBS bones and torsos. They look like clearly technic, but I'm not sure they can't be classified this way due to being mostly just bunch of ball joints and sockets thrown together, connectivity type that can be classified as technic, but by origin is clearly constractions
