Assemblies, moving assemblies, shortcuts and ~ parts - Philippe Hurbain - 2013-01-22 When parts are used in assemblies (provided as such by LEGO, and impossible to separate in normal use) their description begins with ~ so they don't appear in part tree. LDraw user should use assembly shortcuts instead. It seems that things are not completely clear, as discussions around this come up from time to time on PT. Here is my opinion about this.
Re: Assemblies, moving assemblies, shortcuts and ~ parts - Alex Taylor - 2013-01-22 Yes, I'd agree with that. Can we get this written into the Parts Tracker documentation, please? Re: Assemblies, moving assemblies, shortcuts and ~ parts - Michael Heidemann - 2013-01-22 Yes, please Re: Assemblies, moving assemblies, shortcuts and ~ parts - Chris Dee - 2013-01-25 Thanks for writing this - I have added it to the Part Number FAQ. Re: Assemblies, moving assemblies, shortcuts and ~ parts - Philippe Hurbain - 2013-01-25 Thanks, Chris. While you are at it, maybe you should remove this paragraph: Code: Be sure to put (Complete) at the end of the descriptive name for all shortcuts. Use 'Shortcut' when the file is provided for convenience of use (example: Minifig files like 979.dat). Use 'Complete' when the file represents a composite part, as purchased (example: Shock Absorber, 75348.dat). Re: Assemblies, moving assemblies, shortcuts and ~ parts - Steffen - 2013-01-28 and this sentence is also very wrong: Quote:the u-prefixed number becomes available for re-use. Re: Assemblies, moving assemblies, shortcuts and ~ parts - Steffen - 2013-01-28 the introduction paragraph should be adjusted to point to this forum now imho Quote:If you have more questions, please ask!
