32068 + 32069 (technic steering arm/beam) - Roland Melkert - 2012-07-05

There seems to be something wrong with ether 32068 or 32069 (i'm using them in set 5533), they won't fit together (latest lib).

The beam seems to be 4 units to small.

The header of 32068.dat states "reduce size 20 to 18 LDU" so that might be the cause of the problem (reduction instead of inc) ?

Hi Roland,

How are the meant to fit together?

32068 is a weird part.

It is used as the more modern steering setup in creator etc.

I'm using it in the model team dragster #5533

I'm not sure if the bracket is too big or the beam too small, the instructions of 5533 arn't very clear (got them from peeron).

Cheers. I have some idea I might have both parts so I'll try to dig them out when I have a little time. But if anyone else does that would be better.

Maybe I can give you some measures in the evening, when I'm home.

32068 is a "normal" beam, with a 20 ldu height and a 18 ldu width, very similar to 42003. So it is modeled correctly, and indeed it seems that the slit width of 32069 is wrong!

Re: 32068 + 32069 (technic steering arm/beam) - Roland Melkert - 2012-07-06

Looking at the instructions I'm using the bracket should be at least 2 units downsized in height, taken off from the bottom cause the top (as seen in the picture in this thread) needs to stay at level with the white plate, that much is clear from the instructions.

But even with a two units downside it won't fit the beam, and a 4 unit downsize would make it even with the bottom brick behind it which is wrong (the instructions clearly show an overlap).

I measured 32069, LDraw model is wrong. Triangular elements should be 8 ldu wide, not 6. I'm correcting it. Thanks for spotting, Roland!

Thanks (all),

So if I move the beam down 2 units all will be ok? and a future lib update will automagicly make all perfect again Smile

Yes... I sent corrected part to Chris, but I attach it here, just for you Wink

Thanks again, it looks great now.
