LEGO Parts Guide - Only 33 of the 2000 Most Common Parts are still missing from LDraw - tom alphin - 2025-12-30

As many LDraw part designers know, I am working on both an online LEGO Parts Guide, as well as an upcoming print edition of the guide. 

This thread serves two purposes...
1. To thank the LDraw community for making great progress in creating 3d models for the vast majority of common LEGO parts. I have seen a huge increase in the number of common parts included within LDraw in the past couple years!

2. To provide a short list of the most common parts which remain missing from LDraw, and will therefore also be missing from the printed version of my guide.  I would love to see one more push to get the most important parts added to LDraw so I can offer a more complete collection of parts for my readers.

Most Common Current LEGO Parts missing from LDraw...
To make this list more useful, I have already taken the effort of checking rebrickable to see if an alternate ID is used for LDraw, and checked to see if it is in LDD or Unity.  I put DUPLO parts on a second list, because I do not need them for the print edition of my guide.

This is based on a list of the 2000 most common current parts, where current is defined as parts included in sets released from 2021-2025.

Missing LEGO Parts (high priority):
  • #1436 - Part 80487 - Spider Web, Dome Shaped with Bar. - Increasingly common. 🟢 .dat available (heartlake) >>  -> Link to raw .dat

I'm happy for all the progress, but especially this one! The Baby Bottle has been one of the highest ranked missing pieces for a long time and it's great to see it in the library.

Awesome to see progress on this, There's already 13 fewer missing parts!

I did just add a dozen or so missing parts ranked from 1900-2000 in my ranking system.  (I could keep going, but these really do reflect the most important missing parts at this time!)

Awesome.  I don't have a lot of Minecraft sets, but I know many LEGO fans will be thrilled to have these added to the collection! 

I'm eager to include them in my book because, even if the book is written with adult builders in mind, I suspect many families will want a printed catalogue of common parts --- and having Minecraft parts in the guide will be a crowd pleaser.

I certainly do not mind if they are merged, but it might be easier to just ignore the older ones.


I think the better question is whether I should create a new thread in the future for related asks... or just keep updating this thread.  I am open to whichever approach the admins prefer.

We only have 9 "High Priority" parts that are still missing, and a total of just 37 of the top 2000 (2021-2025).  Would it be possible to get the last nine done soon? I would love to have those common parts in the Beta 2 version of my guide!

It helps that 7 have existing .dat files, and Gerald is actively working on the other two.
