Angle of arrow tip on Minifig Harpoon 57467 - Jaco van der Molen - 2025-08-18

Hi all,

Why is the angle of the arrow tip on Minifig Harpoon 57467 not straight?
It seems at an 11 degree angle?

This part was released in 1999 so the reason is lost to the sands of time.

Looking at the part this seems to explain the reason, the width of the arrows are 1/16th of the cylinder.

That part is way off from the real one anyways.

(red one is LDD mesh, blue one library file, turned around the 11 degrees)

Note, that the LDD mesh also isn't fully accurate, as that misses the noticable fillet at the bottom of the "fins". However they are straight on the real part, not angled, like in the current version.

Do a complete rework, and obsolete the old.

Why obsolete??? just replace the code, the part will remain geometrically compatible!

I'm assuming that the fins will be moved to be horizontal/vertical.
But if they stay rotated, obsoleting might be avoided.

It would be much better. But I don't see the problem even with unrotated fins!

Can the fins from 18041 be reused?

yes

I agree that if the only this being touched in the fins then obsolescence is unnecessary.

RE: Angle of arrow tip on Minifig Harpoon 57467 - Gerald Lasser - 2025-08-20

This is the current mesh for 18041 from BI

If this gets reworked, I would not like it if the fins stay rotated as is. Please make them align to the standard planes; it's rather annoying always having to rotate them this awkward angle whenever placed.

Given that, I think it will at least break the look of older models which have them rotated back to the "correct" position. I think it's not avoidable to obsolete it.
