Naming of minifig torsos - Manfred Schaefer - 2024-08-15
Hello,
There are several minifigure torsos on the part tracker (76382). These are so-called shortcuts. The numbering is 76382pccc, where ccc stands for the printing.
Shouldn't c01 be added as it is a shortcut and there can be several versions, e.g. different color of the arms?

The number 76382 isn't a partnumber. It is the number of the assembly of of these five parts.
It is for that reason not necessary to add a -cXX suffix to the number, since the numer itself tells us it's an assembly.
If the same torso is reused with different arms, the assembly should use a different pattern code.
The assembly doesn't need to use the same pattern code as the torso has, but it can be practical to have the same code on all included parts.

yes this is correct. But other printed shortcuts also use this type of naming, see 2207p01c01.
And part 76382 is only available as a fully assembled part.

That is precisely the advantage I see in this naming.
All assembled torsos with the same print have the same value for the print.
