*** MLCad V3.40 *** - Willy Tschager - 2011-12-27

Crossposting from Lugnet.com/Cad:

Hello all,

I would like to announce that there is a new version of MLCad available!

MLCad V3.40

What's new:
  • Implemented basic undo functionality (might be a bit slow, but should work)
  • Improvements for network installation or installation under Windows Vista and above.
MLCad now doesn't write to its installation path anymore.
  • Save pictures in more formats, now supporting Bitmap, Jpeg, Gif, Tiff and Png.
  • Serveral bug-fixes

More detailed information is available in the release notes and on the web-site:
http://mlcad.lm-software.com

I wish you fun with the new release and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Best regards,
Michael

This is great news!
One small problem, in position/orientation dialog it seems that I can't check "Use rotation vector value"? Do I do something wrong?

Re: *** MLCad V3.40 *** - Steffen - 2011-12-28

good news! here's some feedback:

good:

(1)
the permanent insertion of 0 BFC CERTIFY INVERTNEXT is finally gone, hurray :-)))

(2)
uses ldconfig.ldr now, hurray

bad:

(1)
the tool still inserts stray empty lines
0
at each file's end upon saving

(2)
the tool still inserts
0 ROTATION CENTER ...
0 ROTATION CONFIG ...
lines at the file beginning.
I suggest that there should be an option which allows the user to turn on and off this saving.

EDIT:
(3)
The background color setting is not saved reliably.
When I set it to color code 68 ("very light orange") and close and restart MLCad,
it comes up with an all-white background instead of 68.
The same goes when choosing a custom color and e.g. configuring it to 0x04333FEB.
It comes up with white background on restart.

Is this at one time how it was supposed to be? Note how many parts end this way. (414 by my count.)

Philo, I've exactly the same problem.
I hope that Michael will fix this problem soon.

Yes - in the past, but it is not necessary now.

Re: *** MLCad V3.40 *** - Tim Gould - 2011-12-29

I know I'm totally stupid for not getting this to work but...

How do I import my settings and groups from 3.3 into the new one?

Tim

Re: *** MLCad V3.40 *** - Steffen - 2011-12-29

same problem here.
I copied over my MLCad.grp for the parts tree configuration,
but there's no "load file" button in the parts tree configuration dialog :-(

EDIT:
doing this on Windows 7 64bit

Re: *** MLCad V3.40 *** - Tim Gould - 2011-12-29

And I should have added I'm doing this on Windows 7 in case this makes a difference.

Re: *** MLCad V3.40 *** - Philippe Hurbain - 2011-12-29

JC-Tchang sent me an email describing the problem and its solution, here is a quick translation:
Code:
Importing groups and favorites works... but only once at the 1st MLCad launch (probably to avoid conflicts later).
So, if the files were not present at 1st launch... no luck ;-(
Here is the method to get around:
- Place files MLCad.grp and MLC_Favorites.txt in MLCad install folder (through in also MLCad.ini for Lsynth and Minifigs)
- Edit registry with regedit.exe
- Go to HKEY_USERS/S-1-5-21....../Software/Lachmann/MLCad (you may search registry for "Lachmann")
- Delete complete MLCad registry key and exit regedit
- Then launch MLCad, the parameters will be imported.

Thanks. I'm glad it's not that I'm an idiot too Smile

Good! Didn't knew... I really need to start reading these fora more frequent.
Its good news indeed. I am sure many of us apprieciate the Undo function working now.
I had no problem with my groups and favorites. I just copied the mlcad.exe en mlcad.dll in the MLCad folder and overwrote the existing files (after having them backed up, which is not really needed since we all have the old zip of 3.30 or earlier versions ;-)
Looking good there!
I need to update my websites now.

Question: are there any new things that need to be translated? I did the Dutch version. The translation for 3.30 still works, but if there is something new to be translated I'd like to know.

Jaco

Yes, but its just peanuts. Add "Png" and "Tif" to the supported file formats in the "File type:" drop down list on the "Save image(s) options" dialog.

Did I miss something or is the Import Model functionality broken?
When I import a submodel (which I rarely do) in 3.4 it does nothing.
