Height of electric pin holes of 6216m2 - Electric, Motor 4.5V Type 2 - Willy Tschager - 2023-12-01

Guys,

some help with https://library.ldraw.org/tracker/32922 is needed.

In case you own an Electric, Motor 4.5V Type 2 for 2-prong connectors with Middle Pin I'd like to know if the pin holes line up with the center of a technic pin hole or if the position in the official LDraw part as shown in this picture is correct:

Thanks. w.

I only have the older version with two holes (and no metal reinforcement in the axle), and the holes are concentric with 32000/602.

http://www.peeron.com/scans/8700-1/1 shows that the electric switch can be used directly with the 3-hole Version:

(I can align mine that way, but not connect them because of the pin at the switch).

And the holes at the outside of the switch (for the plugs) are all 3mm (same as the pins) --> 3.5 LDU radius

Do we need solid electric contacts too? Tried modeling the ones of my motor:
(then you dont even need the vision blocker anymore at the 2-hole version)

Feel free to add it to u9373s01.dat.

no, I dont want to add it to the s01, I would rather create s02 or a new part...
and this "connector" gets added in the body assembly.
Would this also need its outer shell or just the faces you can actually see?

Yes, you're right.
We need to have this as 4 parts.

1 casing, with top and bottom studs, plastic ; u9372, used in all assys
1 back, with holes for the electric contact, plastic ; u9373, u9376, u9378,
1 stator, metal electric contact plates, missing
Together these 3 make the Body assemblies

1 rotor, axle, loose, to be animated rotating; u9377, u9374c01

Body assy + Axle assy = Motor complete; 6216a, 6216m, 6228a

RE: Height of electric pin holes of 6216m2 - Electric, Motor 4.5V Type 2 - Rene Rechthaler - 2023-12-02

Arent there 4 Variants? (4V and 12V each in 2 and 3 hole versions, the old 12V is missing as an assembly)

The stator (the stator itself shouldnt be modeled, just the connectors) could be u9379, but maybe there are also different versions.
Who else has one of these parts? (My old motor has a different electrical contact than the one in the library)

I was a bit suspicious so I opened a broken 4.5V train motor to check the Bühler-Motor:
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=x482&idColor=11#T=C&C=11
And yes: it is very possible that these motors are inside the Technic Motors too (although a bit modified...)
Should I model it too (Dimensions: Diameter 23,5mm, flat part 18,5mm, length 27,8mm, driving shaft 2mm)?

No. Invest your time in other parts.

Don't get too far out into the weeds detailing the internals for electrical parts. Simple placeholders, if anything at all, are sufficient.

RE: Height of electric pin holes of 6216m2 - Electric, Motor 4.5V Type 2 - Willy Tschager - 2024-02-13

The pins of the back have been corrected:

https://library.ldraw.org/tracker/33235

which would break all the models using it. We have therefor to obsolete the parts in yellow and submit the corrected parts with new numbers. Here is my proposal:

Where UXXXA is a new u9000 number.

Comments?

If we are 100 % sure, that is correct now, then this is the way to go in my eyes.

All parts of the variants have been reorganized.

I case you wonder why I haven't used the old 6228 nomenclature: 6228 according to Digital Bricks is the Dolphin 9M. Also Rebrickable list a, b, and c variants of 6228 as dolphin. No site Re, BL o BO have a part number for the 12V motor with/without center pin hole.
