i need someone to help me make this robot arm work - Mcdichael - 2021-01-18

there's this robot arm made by Magnus Forsberg that refuses to import correctly into stud.io's part designer program correctly, whenever I import it, it says "Parts Not Found: s/62691s01.dat", and it only loads the front and the little arm connector piece, I tried fixing it myself but it's so frustrating, so i decided to give in and ask the Ldraw forums for help, also make sure to tell me if this happened to anyone else and if it happens on any other Lego building program, I want to make a cyborg army but it's not the same without the robot arm that has, like, a weapon or stud or something connected on it.
also here's the link to the part I'm having trouble with: https://www.ldraw.org/parts/official-part-lookup.html?folder=parts&partid=62691
oh and btw, i got the version of the arm off these torsos, https://www.ldraw.org/cgi-bin/ptdetail.cgi?f=parts/63208.dat and https://www.ldraw.org/cgi-bin/ptdetail.cgi?f=parts/63208p01.dat, but it ended up unable to be colored, as only the stud connector could be colored, and i have no idea how to make the whole thing able to be colored in Stud.io.

RE: i need someone to make this robotic arm fully colorable - Gerald Lasser - 2021-01-18

LDraw parts are consisting of sub-parts and primitives. You need to make sure that these sub-parts and primitives are also present in the directories stud.io is using.

so be sure that "62691s01.dat" is in the correct path:

e.g.: "Custom Parts\Pats\s"

In Part Designer did you try to go to File >> Open and then navigate to the correct directory where the file is stored. You should not need to "Import" the file, just open the dat file using Part Designer. On my system the part is stored here C:\Program Files\Studio 2.0\ldraw\UnOfficial\parts\62691.dat

The part opens fine, without any issues. You can then export it to Bricklink Studio if you want to add color to the part since you cannot color parts in Part Designer.

If I have missed the point here please let me know what it is you are trying to do with the part?

Cheers,
Gary
