49533, Windscreen 3 x 6 x 1 Curved with Decoration - Orion Pobursky - 2019-02-17

49533, LEGO Windscreen 3 x 6 x 1 Curved with Decoration

This appears to be a patterned version of 62360. I can probably provide a picture once I open the actual set it comes in.

Pattern not easy since the curvature is high. Try to make (at least) two photos, from a 45° direction left and right(*), with the lens at the same level as the part.
(*) the pattern looks subtly assymetrical!

I won't need this one in a hurry. Was looking up some other part and decided to check on the parts my the set backlog.

Here’s some photos. The patterns looks symmetrical. Let me know if you want a different angle.

Looks good... Pattern is symmetrical overall, but shadow in each rectangle is not.
Not home right now, I won't be able to do it before a few days, so no problem if someone is faster !

BUMP…

I've arrived at set 21044 and find myself also in need of this part. I don't know if I'm quite at the skill level yet to conquer a curved pattern like this one…et je voux construire la tour Eiffel. ;-)

(There is also some question whether the underlying part is actually 35299, which we don't have.)

I have the part so I'll pull it and check for them.

I've got the part too, so if needed I can chime in...

And I'm not unwilling to try my hand at modeling the pattern, but I'm at a bit of a loss how to begin the process. Is this a job for LDPC?

RE: 49533, Windscreen 3 x 6 x 1 Curved with Decoration - Orion Pobursky - 2020-06-09

This is a print of 35299 and not 62360. I just submitted 35299 the PT.
https://rebrickable.com/parts/35299/windscreen-3-x-6-x-1-curved-with-rectangular-stud-holder-in-bottom/

The pattern looks simple enough. I might have time in the next few days to see what I can come up with.

Yes, that's the tool I would use. Use the front of windscreen as former, and make the pattern from there. Since the curvature is high, probably needs to make it in (at least 3, perhaps 4) sections at from several directions. Junctions can be a nightmare... And this pattern is not even symmetrical Sad

Yes, and the pattern is at an angle with respect to the part, because it attaches at a vertical angle, but the arch is supposed to match the angle of the legs (just short of 34°).

Regarding the symmetry, I can't tell if it's supposed to be, and the printing layers are just offset (a common issue), in which case perhaps you could do the light and dark gray as two mirrored halves, then add the black shading afterward (which is asymmetrical in any case)?

This part is going to take me more time than I have to work on it. So if you want to give it a shot, go for it.

Philo, would you do us the honor?  Angel

Assuming I could even get LPC up and running (Mac issues…), this one is really beyond my skill for now!

Ok! May take some time, not completely trivial ?

I think I'm mostly done. Comments?

It certainly looks like the part to me! (I don't have the real version, but from the photos.)

One small thing, I think there should yet be one last gray triangle at the left end? (Without any black shading this time.)

Thanks (both of you) for tackling this challenge!

Yeah... I took it for a misprint artifact, but it's real...

Here's how it looks in the model. I notice something funny with the rendering of some of the triangles, but that seems to be an LDCad thing. It happens in the underlying part as well, and only in alpha blending mode. LDView renders it fine.

That's probably because LDView does triangle z-sorting while LDCad does only part z-sorting.
