TEXMAP fallback - Orion Pobursky - 2019-01-11

I think we need to have a discussion on how detailed the fallback for a TEXMAP part need to be.

My opinion:
The TEXMAP standard has be out for 6 years. All actively developed LDraw editors support it and any new one's can't call themselves LDraw.org compatible unless they do. I don't think we should require any patterned fallback detail except to complete the geometry of a part.

Fully agree. Especially since getting a good texmap image can take quite a bit of time, so requiring a fallback would add even more work for a texmapped part than for a triangulated pattern alone!
