bug in forum software: posts are attributed to wrong user - Steffen - 2011-12-10

I've just posted this new topic, asking for help with a Primo 1x1 brick:

http://forums.ldraw.org/showthread.php?tid=2290&pid=2290#pid2290

But when I look at the recent posts

http://forums.ldraw.org/addon.php?0,module=recent_messages

, it does not show me correctly as author, but instead "Jude".

There must be a bug in the forum software.

See the attached screenshot (rename from *.png.txt to *.png)

I already noticed and am working on it. For some reason, your post is breaking the image embedding code which in turn is breaking recent messages.

Re: bug in forum software: posts are attributed to wrong user - Steffen - 2011-12-10

This may be caused because I use 2 directly adjacent images in a single line.

If a regex is wrongly applied onto that line which looks for the image tags,
then it might catch the 2 instances as one maybe.

another possible cause - Steffen - 2011-12-10

the recent messages list shows inline images which were used in a post.
maybe the peeron URL of the image I used is causing trouble there?

Re: another possible cause - Orion Pobursky - 2011-12-10

Ok, I found what is causing the problem but I don't understand why. Yet.

The root of the problem is the URL you have before the the images. Again, I don't know why this is causing a problem but I do know that when I moved the URL to after the images, the problem went away. This was confirmed with a test posting on the administrator forum. I'll be looking into this issue in more depth but I have a suspicion that's it's being caused by the code the generates the preview for recent messages.

Re: another possible cause - Orion Pobursky - 2011-12-10

This is a big with the recent massages template. It has nothing do to with your post at all, including the URL thing I wrote above. You just happened to hit a happy sweet spot of words before the images to trigger the bug.

I LOVE that this bug somehow included me. Still laughing about it. Big Grin
