Building on top of an image - Michael Horvath - 2017-12-19 I have images such as the attached ones. What is the best way to under/overlay the images in an ldraw editor so that I can build to match them? Does some software support this? I *may* possibly be able to export them as SVG or PostScript. Thanks. RE: Building on top of an image - Roland Melkert - 2017-12-19 (2017-12-19, 6:56)Michael Horvath Wrote: I have images such as the attached ones. Thanks. You can make a textured quad out of it and put it in a .dat. Or generate a sticker using my online script: http://www.melkert.net/test/stickerGen.html Then put that in the model and build over it in ortho mode. Thanks a lot for this tip and for the generator page, Roland! I needed this several times but I did not know there is already a solution. Instead, I simulated ldraw modelling in inkscape - you may imagine the pain RE: Building on top of an image - Michael Horvath - 2017-12-20 (2017-12-20, 23:27)Milan Vančura Wrote:(2017-12-19, 20:07)Roland Melkert Wrote: You can make a textured quad out of it and put it in a .dat. The output of the online tool works in LDView (and presumably also in LDCAD). Not sure how to get it to work in LeoCAD however. And I doubt it works in MLCAD at all. I use a program called GeoGebra for experimental drawings. https://www.geogebra.org/ It is able to export as PNG or SVG, but has a lot of bugs and quirks that you have to take into account first, or there will be errors in the output. The Geometer's Sketchpad is maybe better for artists since it natively supports pixel units (*very important*) and is less buggy. But it is expensive and has fewer advanced features. Thanks. Is there a way to make a textured quad completely transparent? Or just show the texture and omit the quad?
