Hi there, I’m new so not really sure what to do. I’m after a 3D rendering of this relatively new part: 1686
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/cat...8#T=C&C=28
https://www.brickowl.com/catalog/lego-sh...shaft-1686
Here’s a different angle that shows the detail: https://www.toypro.com/us/product/49377/...e-ends/red

I’m building a model in Studio and tried to use PartDesigner to edit the slight variation of the part that they on file but I’m not savvy enough to get it working. I’ve put in a request on the PartDesigner forum but thought I could try here too. I’m not sure how the file types work. How transferable are they from program to program?

Thanks,
Corinne

Looks like we don't have it in the library yet but Stud.io uses LDraw so once an author posts it you will be able to import it in.

For the authors:
This part is listed as 01686 on Rebrickable and is available in 3D form in set 10313

1686 indeed. I'll do it!
Isn't the shape similar/same as DEsign ID 21560?

Shape is similar indeed (though not completely identical), but attachment is very different.

Oh thanks so much for your help @Philippe! Really appreciate you creating this so quickly!

I'm struggling to render it on my end. I've attached a photo of what I'm getting in LDView. I tried the other version and it looks like the part but is cut in half.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong here. I've not used these programs before.

The ldraw.org parts tracker broke backwards compatibility when it updated a while ago. It now requires https for all part downloads, and its CGI script that tracks parts releases is not being updated. (Even if the CGI were updated, it would likely require https.) LDView does not support https for its automatic part downloads or parts library downloads, so they no longer work (at all). Until Orion has the time to fix the web server, this will continue to be the case.

For now, if you manually download the main part into <LDraw>/Unofficial/parts/1686.dat, and download the subpart into <LDraw>/Unofficial/parts/s/1686s01.dat, it should work.
Thanks Travis, that did the trick!
