The only difference is the centre part,

Function: No difference (added strength)
Visually: Most cases probably no, as the additional detail will be hidden by a plate

However I think it should be added. It has some slight differences.

It is not like the 18675 which exists now as 35173 due to the use of a different material and it production/thermal properties.

Imho, modeling new version is overkill!
Is it an option just to update the existing library part, instead of having two variants?

No. These are distinct parts with different numbers. Sometime we don't care about the difference so we create an alias, in others we create a new part.

OK. From the photo comparison, it looks like the real-life part 44822 has a little dip, or notch, in the same place as the raised ridges on 95120, and probably serving the same purpose.

I note that this notch wasn't modeled in the library version of 44822. If omitting this detail is considered adequate for that part, we can conclude it would be unnecessary for part 95120, thus no need to create that additional library part.

If, on the other hand, inclusion of this detail is desirable, then 95120 should be created, and 44822 should probably be modified to include the notch.

(I don't have an opinion either way, this just seems like a fair basis on which to make the decision.)
If we would anyway create an alias, we can spend the extra four bumps as well...

EDIT: That extra code should do
