I thought I saw this already, I thought wrong. I don't have this part and can't find it on digitalbricks so don't know if it's an assembly or not. Also, I get 14396 from some sources and 14379 from others. There are 4 printed versions: 3 gingerbread people and the Clock King from collectible minifig series.

After a little research: if it isn’t an assembly, it is, at the very least, a dual mold.

I remembered seeing it as well, and finally I found it!

The last digits are swapped (14397)

I got two of them

I am working on the basic shape

Pretty much through them

These are basically two parts snapped together. WIth some force you can get them apart (without destruction!!!)

The Sandwich part is 14396
The Filling is 13733, glad it has it's number printed. Also interesting, this is the first part I have seen where the LEGO logo is not printed straight, it is embossed as an arch...Never seen that...

How do we number those faces?

So we've got 14396 and the filling 13733.

Patterned is 14369 -> 14369pxx

The assembly then 14369c01pxx or 14369pxxc01?

Or do we use the rebrickable number 14379pxx?

I'd say use BrickLink's number. And it should be pxxc01.

No, I think that's wrong. This assembly is known as 14397 in LDD and we usually pick that number.

Bricklink use 14396c01
Rebrickable use 14397pr001. I think 14379 is a typo at Rebrickable
Brickset have 14398 on one of the pattern designs, the first gingerbread man from the CMF.

To reduce clutter what do you think of:

The "Sandwich" 14396:

Name it with a tilde "~" to stop it from showing,
Upload only an unprinted version

The "Assembly" 14397:

will consist of a 14396s01 without the surface
will have the pattern
will be named pxx to get the proper overview
will get the "Filling" 13733 in the appropriate colour, respectivley colour 16 when filling and cover are the same.

Any benefit for adding the pattern on 14396 first? This will add a few more (invisible) files

Yes, it looks about right to me.
I think we will have a similar situation on the printed dual-moulded minifig arms and legs.
One of the "halves" need to be used, hard-coded in a colour, like as if it is part of the "pattern".

Maybe this is what you're saying and I'm just a bit unclear:

14397 should have the sandwich and the filling in color 16 with no pattern
14397pXX should be the the patterned sandwich piece(s) in color 16 with the filling hard coded in the appropriate color.
