Hi community

When starting the latest version from DatHeader (3.0.23), I got a error message,
Missing Catecory.txt.
[attachment=4666]
After confirming the dialog box, an attempt is made to download the file.
This leads to another error message.

DatHeader runs that way too, but this Zenario comes every time it starts.
Thoughts or solves?

Regards Johann
Dunno... I have the same category file update problem (but since I do have the file, DH doesn't fail at startup). Updating ldconfig.ldr does work fine.
Attached my category.txt file, to be placed in DH folder.

There should be a category.txt file in the directory with DatHeader. Copy this file to the ldraw directory. This should solve the problem.
Thanks Philo, Thanks Orion

There is even the catecory.txt file in the ldraw root directory.
It seems that the newer version (3.0.23) looks in its own root directory.
3.0.22 should access the file in the ldraw directory, which starts without problems if the file is missing in the DH root directory.
Could there be another error causing this error message?
Where on the ldraw sites is the file category.txt stored?

When I installed using the AIOI I got a copy of the file from 2014. And it is not up to date. Many valid categories are missing.

Why do Datheader fail to download this file? Where is the file stored?
I get the same error. I did have categories.txt that had been installed with LDPE, so I copied and renamed that file and now DATHeader is happy.

However, it also keeps asking for primitivescale.txt, and feeds the same connection error when I try to download that.

categories I think this is a result of me implementing https on ldraw.org. IT probably reads the page that lists the categories and creates a txt file for it.

primitivescale is here:

More info on how DATHeader stores things:

Heh, wouldn't you know…now that link is itself broken. (Bad certificate warning, followed by 503 error.) It was working mere hours ago.

Works for me. If you're using Firefox try a Ctrl-Shift-R

Seems to be back up now. Chrome took a while to recover, but I was able to grab it in Safari.

I also notice I have no keywords in the official list, probably due to the same connection error?

And is the full error (body) scan always so very slow? (10-15 minutes to scan a 100 Kb file?)

Yes. That 4MB fallback pattern I posted on a recent thread took all night to do on my machine.

That the download does not worked might be because I had used http: instead https:. Will be fixed in the next update.

DATHeader and all DAT/LDR/MPD files should be excluded from forced https

I checked the AIOI and couldn't find it. Please point me to it.

This problem still persists. What makes things even worse is that I couldn't find a category.txt browsing LDraw.org: not in the library nor here https://www.ldraw.org/parts/direct-parts-access.html

In DATHeader there is the menu point "update category.txt" please use that. It still works fine also today.

I get this message if I try, using 3.0.24
Code:

When I implemented ssl a few years ago, I opened the routes I knew about so that DATHeader could access them without encryption. I don't know what route DATHeader is using for category.txt so it's probably not excluded. I can do that and will once I found out the route being used but I would much prefer if DATHeader used ssl instead.

Hi Orion, I am completely with you, but my skills in vb.net and the webclient are not that good. Until today I failed to get it to work. If there is anybody out there who can help, I would very much appreciate that. :-)
