I've finally decided to tackle this bad boy for real. I'm posting this thread in part to post progress on the part and in part to ask for numbers. I generally get the numbers provided on a silver platter, but this is not the case.

So far, the housing is coming up and the trigger has been modeled.

The part is an assembly of 5 parts:
  • the black housing, this has the number 60932 imprinted
  • the silver magazine, this has the number 60931 imprinted
  • the silver trigger, number unknown, model 100% complete
  • the spring, number unknown
  • the red circular gizmo that supports the balls against the spring, number unknown
According to Brickset, the design ID of the assembly is 62233. Can someone try to find out what the rest of the numbers are, please?

I was thinking of providing the following shortcuts:
  • 62233-f1.dat, with the spring relaxed
  • 62233-f2.dat, with the spring contracted
  • 62233c01.dat, shortcut with 62233-f2.dat with 4 balls.

I also found out that just a ruler doesn't cut it anymore, so I finally got myself a caliper...
I am dry at the moment, asking a friend...

Wise move!

Quite. And it has always been pretty high up in my wishlist...

It sounds like you need a new silver platter. :-)  Who/where has been your info source in the past?

It should be noted, that if a part is "according to BrickSet", as long as it's the tabular format with the official LEGO imagery, that the info is technically according to the LEGO Group, it comes directly from them, and can be relied upon with the highest confidence.

62233 SHOOTER 2008 (color 131 SILVER: 2008, 315 SILVER METALLIC: 2009) apparently consists of:
60922 WHEEL FOR SHOOTER 08 (color 131 SILVER: 2008, 314 SILVER METALLIC: 2009)
60931 TUBE FOR BALL SHOOTER 2008 (color 131 SILVER: 2008, 314 SILVER METALLIC: 2009)
60932 MOUTHPIECE, BALL SHOOTER 2008 (color 26 BLACK)
62114 PISTON FOR SHOOTER 2008 (color 21: BRIGHT RED)

The fact that I can't locate a proximal spring makes me think it's probably the same spring as used in another element or element(s).  What that design ID would be, I'm unfortunately not sure.

Thanks a lot for the numbers! For the spring I guess we can just use a u-prefixed number if nothing else.

With the number of the trigger now known I've posted it on the PT: http://www.ldraw.org/cgi-bin/ptdetail.cg.../60922.dat

By "silver platter" I mean that usually the numbers are imprinted on the parts so I don't need to hunt them down.
An update on the housing... I can say with confidence that this is by far the most complicated part I've ever modeled. So far I'm very happy that I got most of the exterior.

I couldn't get LDPE to work so I'm using ldforge.
All finished now and on PT:
- parts/62233-f1.dat
- parts/62233-f2.dat
